My First Bus journey in Turkey: Istanbul to Tekirdag, Thrace

This video is about my first bust journey in Turkey, which was one of the best bus journeys I have ever had! Thanks to this little friend… I travelled on a bus from Istanbul to Tekirdag. Took Istanbul Seyahat bus to Tekirdag from the main bus terminal called Esenler Otogar or Büyük Otogar. It is located in Bayrampasa district so people also call it Bayrampaşa Bus Terminal. A bus terminal is called Otogar in Turkish. If I am not wrong Esenler Otogar is the bus terminal for many international buses for Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Balkan countries and other Middle-East countries. Istanbul to Tekirdag bus

The bus journey from Istanbul to Tekirgag was a bliss. We took state road D100 which connects Bulgaria to Iran. The road was good. Landscapes were great. But the best part of this journey was my travel companion. A little boy who was accompanying his father, also the bus pilot. You’ll see him as well in the video. Bus fare from Istanbul to Tekirdag is 32 Lira in Istanbul Seyahat bus.

Istanbul Ferry Tour & Best Sunset point

The cheapest Istanbul ferry tour costs less than 30 Rupees! In another way,  the cheapest fare from Europe to Asia is 30 Rupees. Sounds interesting! But this is what people pay to travel between Asia and Europe in Istanbul. Ferry ticket cost for Uskudar is 2.6 Lira which comes to around 30 Indian Rupees. The water body is called Bosphorus which divides Istanbul into two parts. Uskudar is on the Asian side of Istanbul. So if you are looking for a cheap Bosphorus tour then take Istanbul Ferry tour which I have shown in this video. This is the cheapest way to feel the Bosphorus ferry trip in Istanbul.

Best view of Istanbul city – Camlica Tepesi

After the Bosphorus ride, I went to visit çamlıca hill also called çamlıca tepesi in Turkish. Camlica Tepesi is the highest point in Istanbul so this is the best viewpoint in Istanbul to get panoramic views of the city. I visited in the evening and found it is the best sunset point in Istanbul. Watch this video to know how to reach Uskudar on a ferry and thereafter how to reach Camlica Tepesi. Also, I purchased a local sim from Turk Telecom for 80 Lira which was the cheapest sim price in Istanbul until then.

My visit to Spice Bazaar & Grand Bazaar: Istanbul

This video is based on my visit to Grand Bazaar, Istanbul. Watch this to know interesting facts about the Grand Bazaar, which once upon a time had to be the world’s largest mall. Thereafter I visited Spice bazar or called Egyptian bazaar. Both the markets are quite big and are popular tourist attractions in Istanbul. So I was recommended these places as the must-visit place for a tourist in Istanbul, besides Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. I met a lot of interesting people on the way. Thereafter I went to Eminonu to catch the ferry to Uskudar. I have shared the process of getting on to the ferry and the free fare to Uskudar. The beginning of the video you will see me visiting a Tourist Information centre in Sultan Ahmet, which I always recommend. The gentleman in the centre helped me to plan the itinerary for the Turkey trip.

Tourist Scams in Istanbul : Caught on Camera

In this video, you will see a tourist scam in Istanbul. It is based on my visit to famous tourist places in Istanbul like Taksim Square, Istiklal street and Sultan Ahmet. I visited there in September 2018.

During my visit to the Istiklal street, I was approached by two people who pretended to be a tourist. Watch this video to know how did they approached me and tried to get friendly. They asked me to join for bear, which I refused. I was already warned about this by the staff at the hostel where I stayed.

The same thing happened with me on the next day in Sultan Ahmet, another popular tourist place in Istanbul. Usually, these people target Solo tourists. After watching this video, I am sure you will come to know about Dos and Donts while travelling in Istanbul and how to handle such situations.

Other ways of Scamming Tourists in Istanbul

1. Pickpockets: Be careful in crowded places, trams and other public places in Istanbul. Keep your valuables in front of you rather hanging/keeping them at the back.

2. Selling emotions: Shopkeepers may try to sell you things by mentioning some emotional stories. Don’t get fooled.

3. Fix the prices before using their service: Do this especially if you are using a taxi. Its better to ask the price before using any service.

4. Restaurant frauds: You may have ordered for a meal, but the add-ons before the meal like Salad or some drink or a sweet may not be free. If they are serving you anything which you have not ordered, ensure the price before consuming it.

5. Drink invitations: This is the fraud which I have highlighted in this video. However, I was invited for a beer on both the instances, but you can get invitations for coffee/tea or something else.

I visited a supermarket called Sok in the Sirkeci area of Istanbul. I have shared the cost of things I bought from there. If you are also a vegetarian budget traveller like me, this part of the video would be helpful for you. Though there are also some other famous supermarkets chains like BIM, M Migros, Greens, Carrefour, etc.

I visited a souvenir shop near Sultan Ahmet called Ottoman Art in Sirkeci, bought some souvenirs from there. I also visited a local mobile sim shop near Sultan Ahmet to find the cheapest mobile networks available in Turkey.
