Reason to book
I keep visiting Udaipur for my official requirements. I have stayed in number of starred hotels and heritage properties, but never had an oppoturnity to stay in a haveli type property. ‘Haveli’ is the traditional mansion in Rajasthan known for its architectural significance. The reason to book this hotel was to experience simplicity and haveli style accommodation.
My experience
Madri Haveli is situated in the old city near Lake Pichola. It is situated on a slightly elevated and narrow road. Auto can drop you at the doorstep of the hotel. Taxi drivers are reluctant to go there so they drop the passengers on Gadia devra, which is 2 minutes away from Madri Haveli. Rooms are simple and small. I got a room on the top floor.
It has a rooftop restaurant with view of Lake Pichola and city. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Breakfast is served on the rooftop. Breakfast menu is limited and served on order. For a relaxed evening, rooftop is a great option. Lake pichola and Jagdish Mandir are 5 minutes walk away. Udaipur Airport is 25 kilometres and railway station is 2.3 kilometres away.
