I stayed in the Hostel Ananas, Prague in September 2016. Based on my experience I rate this hotel 4.1 out of 5
Why did I book this hostel
When I was searching online for hostels in Prague, I could see some options cheaper than the Hostel Ananas. But its location made me book this one. It is located very near to the Wenceslas Square, the heart of the city. Other famous tourist attractions like Old town square and Charles bridge are also very close. The other reason to book this hostel was its connectivity with public transport. It is located just above the Mustek station of Prague’s ‘Green’ metro line.
My experience
I stayed in the Room no. 117 of this hostel, which is a 12-Bed Mixed Dormitory Room. It had one attached Toilet and Bathroom. Room and bed linen were quite neat and clean. Though there is no provision of locked storage box for the person using the ‘bed number 2’ in this room. One of the guests had complaints about the kitchen on the second floor. Probably some of its equipment was not working. Toilet paper rolls were exhausted in the morning.
The main problems which annoyed me the most were the no-English speaking staff (except the receptionists) and the location of the reception. It is not connected directly to the rooms. The reception is on the ground floor and the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. The stairs to the rooms and the reception open in a public passage. While checking-in, I had to walk up and down the stairs twice with all the bags just because the receptionist forgot to put the proper code in my access key. I had to go down again to ask about the laundry access and another time to enquire about the availability of drinking water. My suggestion to the hostel is to put an intercom phone on each floor with access to the reception. Train the housekeeping staff with basic English.
There is a ‘common area’ near the kitchenette on both the floors. It is a nice place to gather and chitchat with other guests.
