T-3 is 15 kilometres away from New Delhi railway station area, whereas T-1 is about 16 kilometres away. In this post, you’ll get to know about the 3 best ways to reach Delhi Airport from the city.

Delhi Airport, also known as Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport is situated in the south-west of the city. It has two active terminals – Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 (T1D/T1C). Terminal-3 (popularly known as T3) should not be confused with International airport as it also hosts domestic operations of Full-service airlines. Terminal-1 is used for Domestic flights of Low-cost carriers (GoAir, IndiGo and SpiceJet). T-1C is used for Arrivals and T1-D for Departures.

Cabs and Taxi at Delhi Airport

Prepaid taxis by Delhi Police –  Delhi Police operates a ‘prepaid taxi service‘ from both the terminals of Delhi IGI Airport. Travelling through this service is considered to be safer. Passengers are charged at the airport booths itself, so there is no hassle of negotiating prices with the taxi drivers. A proper receipt is given for the charged amount to the passenger. The fare is charged on a point-to-point basis.

Online application based Cabs – Cab aggregators like Uber and Ola also offer a good alternative for travelling to Delhi airport. Nothing can be easier than booking a taxi with just a few clicks in your smartphone. Occasional offers and discounts on these applications are further plus points to these cabs.

Other cab services – There are other cab operators like Meru cabs, Mega cabs and Easy cabs offering services to and from the airport. They are easily available at the airport and are most convenient option to reach Delhi and nearby cities like Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad. However, charging at Rs 23/Kilometre, they tend to be quite expensive

DTC Bus : Cheapest way to reach Delhi airport

DTC, (Delhi Government’s official bus service) operates a 24×7 airport service from different places of the city. This is the cheapest mode of transport connecting the airport with the city. These buses are fully air-conditioned. The low-floored buses are comfortable in the journey and offer ample space to keep baggage. But, these buses can not be relied upon in terms of maintaining punctuality as they have to deal with the city traffic jams. Overall, they can be a good alternative for Airport metro service in case you do not have a tight schedule. Buses to Kashmiri Gate ISBT (Inter-state bus terminal), Anand Vihar ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT are available at regular intervals. All these terminals are also used to take inter-state buses to several popular tourist places.
